By Jim Harvey, Tennessee

This report is being written a little late due to my two week August celebration with my wife Kathryn which included both the JUDY CHEN directed WOW! event in Parsippany, NJ and the AMERICAN MASTER’s event in Las Vegas, Nv., both of which had event coordinators JAMIE and BARNEY MARSHALL using their expert event coordinating experience to create a fun atmosphere for the many NEWLINE line dancer’s that attended both events.

It was good to see sixteen year old foreign exchange high school student SOPHIE from Germany, who has only been in the states since August 12th., dancing to both Guyton’s SHAKE and Jamie’s WITH YOU FOREVER with very good movements during her travels with Jamie and Barney to both of the above events. Having Jamie and Barney as designated parents for a full school year is like winning a fun time USA traveling jackpot experience with a bundle of moral, character and judgement direction information that will remain with her for a lifetime when she returns to Germany.

After completing this report about the WOW! and mowing my lawn which looks like a “hay field” after my prolonged traveling time, I will write more about the American Master”s event latter today or tomorrow.

For this WOW! report, I will try not to give redundant information that was already presented last week via the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday newsletter by two of our great WOW event instructors, Rona Kaye (New York City), and Forty Arroyo (Sturbridge, Ma). Plus, Robert DeLong who had his fun interesting and “future hit new dance” LESS COMPLICATED presented by Scott Blevins, Barbara from New Jersey, and the Wow Line Dance Spectacular NJ report. All of these “write ups” reflected the fun well directed and coordinated activities that took place during the WOW!

Thanks Judy for creating this WOW weekend for us line dancers. The large applause that you received from the line dancers after the show is an example of the appreciation and respect us line dancers have for you’re being brave enough to take a “they will come” chance in order for a dream line dance event to take place in New Jersey.

This WOW! LINE DANCE SPECTACULAR event, as mentioned in the WOW step sheet book, was Judy’s farewell party to the United States line dance community and her new beginning in China. Before, leaving for Shanghai, Judy traveled to Las Vegas for the American Master’s. Hopefully, she will fly back to an event now and then in the future, and be part of making the WOW! grow into a large annual New Jersey event. Good luck Judy with all of your future adventures. We will definitely miss you.

The WOW! Event Schedule, which included three nights of early start time open dancing with a majority of NEWLINE intermediate and advanced dancers made this an “extra fun” dance event for me. DJ’s Alan Kohn, DJ Jam and “Hot Pepper” did a great job of managing the request list for this elite crowd of line dancers.

LINE DANCE NEWS FLASH: During Max Perry’s teach of Bailey and Poulsen’s “With These Eyes” at the WOW! he announced his new idea called “MASH UP”. Once a month Max is going to take two popular dances and create a music CD that combines the dances together. This month the mashed together selections are “With These Eyes” and Noel Castle’s dance “Amazing”. This was a fun dance experience for me, and I am looking forward to not only dancing to this first “MASH UP 1” once again, but to each of Max’s future “MASH UP” monthly selections.
