Sharing a passion for dancing as well as teaching, Sue Hsu and Kathy Chang began instructing Sue & Kathy Line Dance classes in Cupertino, California in August 2006. They teach students of all ages and backgrounds from Silicon Valley and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Their classes continue to grow in community centers, corporate headquarters, and on-line with students who share their joy of line dancing. In order to help students review all the dances they have learned, Sue and Kathy work unbelievably hard to make videos that are posted on YouTube. As a result, everyone can watch freely and learn independently online, benefiting not only their own students but also all other line dance lovers in the world.
Sue & Kathy have choreographed many line dances that are currently being taught and danced worldwide. Three of these dances have been published in UK Linedancer magazine: “It Hurts,” “Tango Tonight,” and “Under the Sun.” They were honored to have “It Hurts” nominated in the Improver Dance category for the 2009 Linedancer Crystal Boot Awards. “Tango Tonight” won 2nd place in the choreography competition at the 2009 Vegas Explosion. Sue and Kathy also received an award for Regional Instructor of the Year at the 2009 Dancers’ Choice Awards.
Sue and Kathy also seek to better their community through line dance. They have made sizable donations to several local schools, charitable organizations, and the China Earthquake Victim Relief Fund. They received the 2009 Asian American Hero Award from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors recognizing their outstanding charitable work. Most recently, they were honored to receive the 2010 Bridge Award from the Asian American Business Council of the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce for their excellent community service.
Sue and Kathy were interviewed for a feature article appeared in the San Jose Mercury News in 2007 when they started to expand their classes. They have also been interviewed on the KTSF TV station as well as various radio stations. Sue and Kathy are happy to share line dance fun and teaching on their website at www.suenkathy.com for their friends and fans around the world.
