Gerard comes from Nova Scotia, Canada where he lives with his wife Susan. He has been involved in dance for over 15 years and grew up in Newfoundland where he was always surrounded by Irish music and dancing!

Over the past 10 years, Gerard has traveled Canada from coast-to-coast and has visited the US and UK to instruct and judge at various dance events. His whacky sense of humor and lively approach to teaching makes his workshops relaxed.the emphasis is always on having fun first.

In 1994, he choreographed his first dance and has since created over 40 more. Many of his dances have become well known outside of Canada and around the world. Dances like Do It!, Get Your Groove On, Crabbuckit, The Way, Heave Away, Mamma Afrika, Plank ' Down and What' Up Lonely have been danced on the best hardwood in the US, UK, Singapore, Japan, Germany, Australia and beyond! Several of his line dances have been published in the UK Linedancer Magazine. He has also created choreography for a College Theatre Department, a country music video and a team of synchronized swimmers (swimming to Garth Brooks!)

Gerard has received four Canadian line dance awards for his instruction and choreography. He was nominated for four 2005 Dancer's Choice Awards (US), INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHER at the 2006 Crystal Boot Awards (UK), and MALE PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR at the 2006 Dancer's Choice Awards (US).

Over 130 dancers from Canada, the US and Ireland joined Gerard in April 2009 for his third Dancin' on the Water Line Dance Cruise. Plans are underway for a fourth cruise in spring 2011.
