Ruben’s love of line dancing began several years ago thanks to his wife Susanna. It took Susanna many weeks to persuade him into going with her to take a line dance lesson at a friend’s house. Ruben eventually agreed to take a lesson but told Susanna he would only go one time. Well it only took that one time to get him hooked. He went from not wanting to dance to dancing 4-5 times a week. In less than a year fellow dancers began asking Ruben to show them dances he had learned at various clubs that they did not know. That led to an occasional teaching slot at one of the local teaching venues in Southern California to eventually teaching 2 times a week. Ruben is also asked to teach at various dance events and workshops throughout the country.
After attending his first workshop and watching the choreography competition Ruben was inspired to choreograph his first dance and enter it at the “Vegas Dance Explosion” in Las Vegas, NV where to his surprise the dance won First Place. Ruben has been competed in choreography for approximately 2 years and has won numerous awards including First and Second Place Wins at the 2009 UCWDC World Championships, First Place 2009 Boston Showdown, First place Chicago Windy City 2009 and 2 First Place Wins 2010 UCWDC World Championships. He also received the "Dancers Choice" Horizon Award in 2009. Ruben enjoys running his own Direct Mail Advertising business that allows him the free time to pursue his favorite hobby dancing, he also enjoys sports, hiking and traveling.
